Project Coordination and Implementation Unit (P&DD) for
Mainstreaming Disaster Risk Reduction

This Unit aims to coordinate and enhance the physical and fiscal resilience through structural and non-structural mitigation measures including climate change adaptations for disaster resilient infrastructure and institutional capacity strengthening under portfolios of PDMA, C&W, Irrigation and P&D Departments.

WHO WE ARE

FERRP contribute to the economic and social recovery of flood-affected areas in Punjab Province through the rehabilitation and reconstruction of infrastructure damaged and weakened during the floods in September 2014.

The project will rehabilitate and reconstruct flood-damaged roads, bridges, irrigation and flood protection infrastructure in Punjab, and support ex-ante disaster risk management activities. Damaged and at-risk infrastructure in the flood-affected areas shall be upgraded to incorporate resilience considerations to mitigate the potential impact of future flood events.

The impact of the project is the economic and social recovery from the 2014 floods. The project outcome is the restoration and reconstruction of critical public and social infrastructure to safer standards to protect against future flooding.

Our Departments


Planning & Development Department, Punjab

    P & D is an executing and implementation agency. The main objective include:
  • Program coordination.
  • Project progress monitoring & evaluation.
  • Data Clearing House.
  • Mainstream DRR into Development Process.

Irrigation Department, Government of Punjab

    Irrigation Department is an implementation agency. Their tasks include:
  • Emergent restoration of flood affected embankment.
  • Reconstruction / rehabilitation of vulnerable flood embankment.
  • DRR and Safety Evaluation Cell for Irrigation Network & Structures.

C&W Department, Government of Punjab

    Communication and Works is an implementation agency. Their tasks include:
  • Emergent restoration of flood affected roads.
  • Rehabilitation / Reconstruction of flood effected roads and bridges

Punjab Disaster Management Authority

    PDMA is an implementation agency. Their tasks include:
  • Multi—hazard Vulnerability and Risk Assessment (MHVRA).
  • Socio economic data collection and survey.
  • Pre and Post disaster simulation model and web application development.
